The Road To Jazz

I heard the cymbals ringing;

I saw the people roar.

I felt the basses rumbling

And shaking through the floor.

I heard the singer singing

And felt the trumpets blare.

I felt the heat arising

Excitement in the air.

I sat behind the keyboard

And felt each ivory key.

The music welled within me,

A great primordial sea.

I heard the people talking;

I tasted sweet pizzazz.

It set my feet a walkin’

Along the Road To Jazz.
